Capital City is the new exhibition at Orso Major Gallery running from 3rd June to 21st June 2014. The show features the artistic response to the London landscape and iconic buildings of London by some of our gallery artists including Kimm Stevens, Janet Brooke and Julia McKenzie.
Julia McKenzie has screen printed some of the city’s urban wildlife onto original Ordance Survey maps and has produced beautifully detailed laser cut designs into vintage screen printed maps of London.
Janet Brooke’s linocuts feature as part of the show with her series of Wren churches and views of the Gherkin, the Shard and Canary wharf as well as new pieces not previously seen at the gallery. These include beautiful screen printed panoramas of London with views from Southwark Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.
The exhibition is part of the London Festival of Architecture which is a city wide cultural festival taking place at various sites from 1st to 30th June 2014. You can read more about other events around the city here
