Canary Wharf, a worms eye view

Canary Wharf Worms Eye View by Janet Brooke

£155 unframed

Image size 26 x 20cm

This linocut print is taken from the series titled 36 Views of Canary Wharf, a play on the title ’36 views of Mount Fuji’ by Hokusai.

Produced in 2001, Janet says of the print Canary Wharf Worms Eye View

“Laying on the grass and looking up at the blocks surrounding Canada Square with Canary Wharf to the left. The little plane coming in to land at City Airport just happened to be there ….. this print was made before 9/11 …… if it had been later I might have thought twice about the inclusion of such an obvious symbol.”

Janet Brooke is a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers and she has exhibited internationally. Her series titled ’36 views of Canary Wharf’ is widely acclaimed and a full set of the series is owned by the Museum of London as part of their permanent collection. At Orso Major we have a selection of her prints inspired by the Japanese style of printmaking. The images include Canary Wharf, The Gherkin and City Churches.
